Mbabane Swallows lost their CAF Champions League clash against Etoile Sportive Du Sahel 2-0 on Friday night at Stade Olympique De Sousse.
The Birds have now lost their fourth Group D encounter and sit third with four points from as many games while the win guarantees Sahel a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
The North Africans were fresh from a 3-0 win in their third match last week on Tuesday afternoon in Swaziland.
The third group match was staged at Mavuso Sports Centre in Swaziland where the North Africans walked away with the full three points.
In this one, the hosts started like a house on fire as they wanted to continue where they left off in Swaziland and pushed for an opening goal in the early stages of the tie.
In their efforts to score, Karim Aouadhi provided an assist for Maher Hannachi to find the back of the net in the 21st minute, 1-0.
On the stroke of the half time, the hosts were awarded a penalty when Swallows committed a foul in the box.
However, Alaya Brigui failed to score to double their lead and it was 1-0 at half time in favour of the hosts.
On their return, they put pressure on the visiting Birds, but were not clinical upfront to find their second goal.
However, substitute Selim Belgacem made it 2-0 in the 89th minute to consolidate the host’s lead.
In the wake of the win, the North Africans now have 10 points at the summit of the group and have secured a spot in the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, the hosts will now prepare to face off against Primeiro Do Agosto at home next month, August 18.
