Former world welterweight champion Kell Brook has dismissed reports indicating that he is considering retiring from professional boxing.

The 33-year-old boxer's last fight was against Australian fighter Michael Zerafa in December 2018 and Brook won via a unanimous decision in England.

Brook, who held the IBF welterweight title from 2014 to 2017, is keen to continue fighting.

“I just wanted to address some speculation circulating about my retirement," Brook said on his official Twitter page.

“I’m not sure where these reports surfaced from but I have NOT retired.

“I’ve had some time away from the ring, But me and my team have been proactively looking to secure them big fights.

Brook, who challenged once for a unified middleweight title in 2016, is eager to face WBO welterweight and American boxer Terrence Crawford.

“We went to New York because we want to fight Crawford. These are the level of fights which get me excited," he added.

“I’d only ever want to bow out on a high, putting on an exciting show for my fans, who have always shown me incredible support.

“If these BIG fights can be made, then I’d like nothing more than to dance again under those bright lights," he said.

“So unless and until you hear it from me, know that there are a few more special nights in store for you guys.”
