Manny Pacquiao has followed fellow boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr by signing with Japanese company Rizin.
Rizin which stands for Rizin Fighting Federation (Rizin FF) is a Japanese mixed martial arts organization created in 2015 by the former Pride Fighting Championships and Dream Stage Entertainment president Nobuyuki Sakakibara.
The organization put together American superstar Mayweather's exhibition fight with kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo on New Year's Eve 2018.
Mayweather, who retired from professional boxing undefeated, defeated Nasukawa in the first round of the boxing match.
Pilipino boxer Pacquiao could reportedly face Nasukawa, who recently signed a new deal with Rizin.
Rizin's chief executive officer Nobuyuki Sakakibara announced the news on Monday.
Sakakibara posted photos on Twitter of the eight-division world champion Pacquiao signing a contract.
"I'm here in the Philippines," Sakakibara said on Sky Sports.
"RIZIN 15 will have this man involved in a way. We will be ready to announce as I get back to Japan."
Rizin 15 will take place on April 21, 2019 at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan.
Pacquiao's last professonal fight was a unanimous decision win over American fighter Adrien Broner in January 2019.
They were fighting for the WBA (regular) welterweight title.
